The School of Performing Arts (formerly the School of Music and Dance) was founded in 2003.Its current programs include Music Performance (with concentrations in Voice, Piano, Chinese Folk Instrumental Music, among others), Dance Performance, Choreography, Drama, Film and Television Performance, Contemporary Pop Music, Music Production, Piano Tuning, and Sports & Performing Arts. 

       In terms of talent cultivation and development, we uphold the student-centered philosophy and adhere to the principle of social demand orientation, vigorously promote the educational model of in-depth integration between the college and performing arts groups and coordinated integration between academic learning and stage performance, and emphasize the educational feature whereby practice functions as teaching and the stage serves as the classroom.Building on major cultural and artistic projects and original stage productions, the School continuously advances teaching innovation and strives to develop integrated professional competence encompassing creation, choreography, performance and administration, which equips students with practical abilities, professional skills and innovative thinking, so as to meet the demand for professional talents in the fields of art performance, artistic creation, art education and arts management in the new era.

The School has established partnerships with more than 10 professional performing arts groups, including China Oriental Performing Arts Group, Jiangsu Performing Arts Group, Wuxi Culture & Tourism Group, Wuxi Song and Dance Theatre, and Shanghai Light Music Orchestra. By integrating professional teaching with practical training, it has developed a distinctive cultivating model for arts vocational education.In addition, it dedicates itself to promoting intercollegiate cooperation and has established mechanisms for academic exchange and practical cooperation in talent development with music and dance programs at Jiangnan University, Yangzhou University, Changzhou University and Suzhou University of Science and Technology.
