Jiangnan Vocational College of Media Arts is abbreviated to "Jiangying". In 2002, it was initiated by Yang Weiguang, then Vice Minister of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and Director of China Central Television, based on Jiangsu Jiangnan Zhili Further Education College founded in 1993. In 2003, it was approved by the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province and registered with the Ministry of Education as a full-time private general higher vocational college. To date, it has a history of 32 years in operation and has trained more than 50,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents for the Yangtze River Delta region.
The college has always adhered to the socialist orientation of running schools, upholding the founder’s commitment to "running private education as a social good", with the motto "Erudition, Endeavor, Aspiration, Achievement". It has established the education philosophy of "Character + Competence", formulated the "Three Goals" work standard for students: "a good career, a good income, a good platform", and developed the "Three Transformations" teaching model to realize students’ knowledge transformation: from assignments to works and then to products; role transformation: from classroom to studio and then to enterprise; identity transformation: from student to intern and then to formal employee. The college implements a college student entrepreneurship cultivation program, aiming to nurture "Six-Qualified" new talents who have faith, ideals, morality, culture, ability and discipline.
Over the years, the college’s graduates have maintained a leading employment rate and high-wage employment rate among similar institutions. It has successively won honors including National Advanced Unit in Moral Education Work, National Model Unit for Characteristic Education, National Model Base for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, 5A-level Social Organization in Jiangsu Province, Civilized Campus of Jiangsu Province, Safe Campus of Jiangsu Province, and Excellent Unit for Employment and Entrepreneurship in Jiangsu Province. It has also achieved awards such as Jiangsu Provincial Excellent Teaching Achievement Award, Jiangsu Provincial Funding Unit for Outstanding Cultural Achievements, and National Excellent Textbook Award. According to MyCOS’s Top 100 Private Higher Vocational Colleges by Graduate Monthly Income, the average monthly income of graduates is 6,300 yuan, ranking 4th nationwide and 1st in Jiangsu among private higher vocational colleges. According to the 2024 and 2025 ShanghaiRanking China Private Higher Vocational Colleges, the college’s comprehensive strength ranks among the top nationwide and 1st among private higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province.
